Selibe Phikwe at a glance
Selibe Phikwe is a mining town located in the Central District of Botswana, approximately 150km south-east of the city of Francistown. The town has a population of ca. 50,000, is renowned for its' rich deposits of Copper and Nickel and benefits from good infrastructure. The town offers a diverse range (low to high cost) of residential properties and a broad range of businesses, services, schools, shopping centres, religious centres, restaurants and leisure facilities. The town benefits from its' close proximity to Letsibogo Dam, which generates a relatively high level of tourism activity and further benefits from being a transit point between Martin's Drift/ Groblersburg Border Post and Francistown, as well as its' relatively easy accessibility from the Tuli Block farming region and the Northern Tuli Game Reserve. Following the implementation of the SPEDU programme - which aims to diversify the economy through the creation of a Special Economic Zone to support industrialization through tourism, manufacturing and agro-business -.the town has been buoyed and continues to benefit from increased investment and the future of the town appears to be positive and promising.
